Connect with the Awesome Digital Arts...
The Golden West College Digital Arts Department offers over 20 unique classes in graphic and web design, from core to advanced. Some of these include Intro to Digital Arts, The Business of Art, Desktop Publishing with QuarkXpress and InDesign, and Advanced Web Design. Our Macintosh lab is one of the largest in Southern California with over 120 state-of-the-art workstations and leading edge industry standard software and hardware. We offer four digital arts and graphic design certificates, and many classes are transferable within the CSU/UC systems. Most of our instructors work in the graphic design industry, which gives students an invaluable real-world perspective.
Meet Joe King…
Commercial artist Joe King took drawing classes in high school and discovered his passion. He decided then that he wanted to pursue a design career. Right after graduation, Joe joined a clothing design company called “Fourth World.” He quickly realized that he needed computer skills in order to get ahead in design. “When I started at Golden West, I had never even turned on a computer,” he says. Today Joe is still a student at Golden West, and he is way ahead at his job, designing everything from in-your-face marketing materials and exhibits to edgy clothing at Fourth World. “Every year the equipment and software in this field are upgraded. I want to stay ahead of the pack, and this is definitely the best place to do that. The lab here is bigger than labs at most four-year colleges,” Joe adds.
