Assignment:
The Veterans History Project is a project of the Library of Congress aimed at collecting oral history interviews, memoirs, letters, diaries, photographs, and other original materials from veterans of World Wars I and II, and the Korean, Cold War, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf Wars and the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts (2001-present). Those citizen civilians who were actively involved in supporting war efforts (such as war industry workers, USO workers, flight instructors, medical volunteers, etc.) are also included in this project.

The GWC Digital Arts students in Art 174 InDesign and Art 177 Portfolio classes use the original Library of Congress project as a starting point for their final class project. Students find and interview a veteran, collect photos and other material then write and design a 16 page book based on this research. Over the past three years the students have created 100+ books about veterans from all over the world.

Displayed here is just a small sample of this growing collection.
